{"id":68,"date":"2021-08-14T16:42:35","date_gmt":"2021-08-14T16:42:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.goetz-golla.de\/?p=68"},"modified":"2021-08-15T14:14:51","modified_gmt":"2021-08-15T13:14:51","slug":"using-an-abberation-inspector-and-ctu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.goetz-golla.de\/index.php\/2021\/08\/14\/using-an-abberation-inspector-and-ctu\/","title":{"rendered":"Using an Aberration Inspector"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Even though it is not my main image processing software, occasionally I use the software ASTAP (Astrometric Stacking Programm, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hnsky.org\/astap.htm\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.hnsky.org\/astap.htm\">http:\/\/www.hnsky.org\/astap.htm<\/a>) for some purposes. ASTAP is slow (only uses one CPU!) and somewhat old-fashioned, but it has great features for analyzing images with aberration problems, for example due to tilts of the image train.  Furthermore, its free and there is a Linux version, which great !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aberration inspector of ASTAP (keyboard shortcut &#8220;F7&#8221;) creates a mosaic of nine small images of the four corners, the four outer midsections and the central section of your image. With such a mosaic, it is very easy to judge the quality of your optics and of the adjustment of your optical train.
